about

Synergy- 1. The interactive of two or more forces so that their combined effect is greater than the sum of their individual effects.
2. Cooperative interaction among groups that creates an enhanced combined effect.

The album's title track, "Synergy", displays the musical cooperation and improvisational prowess of its members, which made this inagural album possible. Ryan Meisel's "Candlelight" and "Alone With You" are reworked songs that have been in his repertoire for over 10 years. Celia brings her vocals to "Candlelight", which was originally recorded by Susan Hofer in 2005. "Alone With You", always a platform for new improvisational ideas, communicates with music what words cannot.

"Sem Mais" is an original composition by Catina DeLuna. This arrangment features the 2nd tenor in an accompaniment capacity with the bass doubling. The opening repetitive figure provides a texture that allows the alto/piano melodic line to sing.

"Mississippi Momma" and "Goin' Down South", both composed by Celia Faye, describe the musical and spiritual journey that brought her to a new home and the importance of staying in touch with one's roots.

Two new songs by James Galasinski grace this album. "Duetscher Blues", has an air of 1950's Hard Bop and "Being There" explores the concepts that we are all in existence together on this earch and should always be present in each moment of our lives.
